For Students
There are many ways students can get involved with the UCF Environmental Initiative & Arboretum. We always try to align students with their major, minor or field of interest to allow student’s an opportunity to gain experience -- through involvement, students can learn a new skill, share talents with others, work outside in nature, gain valuable hands-on experience, play in the dirt, learn about plants or experience some of Central Florida’s unique ecosystems. Volunteer Opportunities
Help the UCF Environmental Initiative & Arboretum run the community organic vegetable & herb garden, manage and restore campus green space, assist in campus landscapes, learn how to give tours, and more. Our volunteers help our Arboretum strengthen and grow. Volunteers help plant, prune, propagate, weed, water, maintain trails, pick up litter, pull out invasive plants, etc. Indoor activities are also available and include making flyers and brochures, website management, and database management. We also love volunteers who come to us with unique and individual talents. Please don’t be shy about sharing your own ideas for how you may improve the UCF Environmental Initiative & Arboretum. Be sure to bring a water bottle, hat, insect repellent, and sunscreen if you are working outside.
To volunteer, email arboretum@mail.ucf.edu or call 407-823-3583 to set up a time to meet with our volunteer coordinator. Each individual will go through a brief volunteer orientation that includes a discussion of your interests and talents, volunteering options, tour of the grounds and paperwork.
